THE STORY BEHIND THE LEGEND
It all began with a notebook
Hidden inside a handwritten notebook and decades of recordings was the beginning of a story that would become Suzy the Cycle Witch.
The Suzy the Cycle Witch "Back-Story"
50+ Year Timeline: 1973–2026
The story of Suzy the Cycle Witch began more than 50 years ago with a worn spiral-bound notebook and several reel-to-reel recordings that Tom Glover stored away in his basement. Hidden for decades, those original music sheets and recordings would eventually become the foundation for a multi-act concept album, music videos, and a companion book.
Tom's passion for music started early. At just 11 years old, he cut a piece of plywood into the shape of a guitar, drew on strings and frets, and taught himself the basics. A year later, he received his first acoustic guitar and began learning songs by the classic rock artists who inspired him.
Shortly after high school, Tom wrote a collection of original songs inspired in part by stories from his friend Steve Miller's cross-country motorcycle trip. Together with several friends, they recorded early demo versions using an Akai reel-to-reel recorder. The musical project, then known as Suzy and the Sidecar, was eventually set aside as careers and family life took priority.
Over the years, Tom's longtime friends Andy and Mike never let him forget about the unfinished project, asking him year after year when he was finally going to complete Suzy.
In 2024, after retiring, Tom rediscovered his original music sheets in the basement. He revised many of the original songs, wrote new material, and recorded modern demo versions using digital technology. As the story and music evolved, the project was renamed Suzy the Cycle Witch to reflect the title character's bold and captivating personality.
Meanwhile, Steve Miller pursued a different creative path. Drawing inspiration from the original concept, he wrote a coming-of-age novel centered on young love, personal growth, and reflection. His book, Suzy and the Sidecar, was published in 2025, nearly 50 years after the original draft was written.
After sharing several demo recordings with family and friends in late 2024, Tom was encouraged to fully bring his vision to life. The result was the rebirth of Suzy the Cycle Witch as a 15-act concept album, complete with narration, professionally recorded music, and cinematic music videos. The story follows a man who, after a motorcycle accident, dreams of meeting Suzy, an enchanting, mischievous woman who calls herself a Cycle Witch.
With the help of more than two dozen musicians and vocalists, the songs were professionally recorded in the studio. Narration was added to guide listeners through the story, while AI-assisted visuals brought each chapter of the adventure to life through music videos.
